Universal Torrent Checker

The Universal Torrent Checker tool developed by Elphsoft aims to make your life easier by checking torrents for you. Say you’re a fan of a TV show and you get the latest episodes from a torrent tracker. Instead of checking the torrent site yourself, you can let Universal Torrent Checker do this task for you. The application will monitor the torrent and inform you about any available updates.

To get started with Universal Torrent Checker you will first have to download a 3MB installation file onto your machine. Run the aforementioned file, click through the setup wizard, and in no time at all Universal Torrent Checker will be up and running on your Windows-powered machine.

The interface is incredibly straightforward. At the top there’s the traditional File Menu and beneath it there are buttons for Universal Torrent Checker’s functions. In the main pane there’s a blue bar that tells you to double click it to add a torrent.

You could do that, or you could click the "Add new torrent" button from the upper right hand corner, or better yet, you could use the Ctrl + N keyboard shortcut. When adding a torrent, you will have to provide a name for the torrent and its URL. If you want to, you can also add an image URL for the torrent.

To manually check for updates, click the “Check all torrents button”, select “Check” from the right click context menu, or use the Shift + Ctrl + A keyboard shortcut. An asterisk will be displayed next to the torrents that have updates; and the updates themselves will be highlighted (green for the new torrent and red for the old one). When you click on the torrent’s URL, your default web browser will launch and you will be taken to its site; there you can download the torrent with your torrent client of choice.

The only annoying thing about Universal Torrent Checker is that it displays an animation on its interface and tells you that “your ad could be here.” Apart from that, this free tool is quite nice.

Let Universal Torrent Checker monitor your favorite torrents and tell you when updates are available. It’s a lot easier than constantly checking the torrent site.
